In Our Hands, by Kym Silvasy-Neale

Outside a cafe window/sporadic rain/I sit/chin in hand/watching people pass/hands full of:

  • burning cigarettes
  • ID cards
  • cell phones
  • dark colored umbrellas
  • plastic shopping bags, handles stretched
  • another person’s hand
  • coffee cup
  • handle bars
  • purple fabric dog leash, one wet dog attached
  • a piece of paper with an address, two strangers, heads close, looking up then down, pointing in opposite directions, a moment of clarity, redirected, hopeful a destination will be reached.
